For the past 13 years, one name has been synonymous with the world’s best Halloween atmosphere: Midnight Syndicate. The soundtrack to the world’s top haunted houses, amusement parks, home haunts, and high-end Halloween events (like Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights, Madison Scare Gardens, and Carnival Halloween Cruises), Midnight Syndicate’s music can be heard from Los Angeles and London to Hong Kong, and Siberia every October. Halloween Music Collection is a compilation of some of the best haunting instrumental music and chilling sinister soundscape from their first 13 years. Hand-picked by the band and mixed especially for use during the Halloween season, it’s a perfect introduction to the music of Midnight Syndicate. Venture forth, if you dare…
In September of 2009, AOL released a list of the Top 10 Best Halloween Music CDs of all time as ranked by AOL/CBS Radio listeners. Three of the ten CDs were Midnight Syndicate discs (#8, #4, and #3) ranking only behind Danny Elfman’s Nightmare Before Christmas and John Carpenter’s iconic Halloween soundtrack. Use Some Frightening Halloween Sound Effects To Make Your Halloween Party Much Scarier!

Article by Beth Montana
Attaining the right atmosphere is important in many special occasions that we celebrate, be it Easter, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, but it is especially important for Halloween. The array of Halloween decorations, all the different types of costumes, and of course we can’t forget the all important candy, are what all add up to create a great Halloween party.
However, at most Halloween parties there usually seems to be one very important aspect missing – some freaky and creepy Halloween sound effects! For some reason this seems to be one of the most often neglected elements of the Halloween atmosphere, but which I feel is also one of the most important ones. Howling, creaking floorboards and other ghostly sounds really set the perfect atmosphere for a Halloween party! All you have to do is to put on a tape of free Halloween sound effects and you’ll be guaranteed to get people into the spirit of the holiday – Without it, Halloween just won’t quite feel quite so spooky.
You’re actually spoiled for choice as there are so many different kinds of sound effects to choose from. For example, if you are expecting to have trick-or-treaters come to your house, why not get the creaky-door-haunted-house kind of sound effect tape that are really popular with kids. They find the spooky noises to be genuinely terrifying. Even teenagers appreciate them, they think they are amusing but cool nonetheless. They’re also a hit with adults too. It just shows that you have gone to that extra bit of effort to get into the Halloween spirit of things.
Another option would be Halloween music, not just sound effects. There are plenty of different kinds available. All you have to do is do a search on Google entering “Halloween music” and see then browse through these search results and see what you feel would be best for your party.
Hope this has inspired you to go beyond the usual spooky decorations, the adult and kids scary costumes and the Halloween theme related food and drinks, and to go that extra mile and really create a true frightening and spine tingling Halloween atmosphere in your home this year!

Happy Halloween, Midnight Syndicate style,
For starters, who is Midnight Syndicate? If you’ve never heard of them, they are a duo (Ed Douglas and Gavin Goszka) whose specialty is making scary, atmospheric Halloween/gothic horror music that they call “soundtracks for the imagination” or “soundtracks to imaginary films”, where the listener can picture a haunted world of their own creation by using their imagination. In other words, these guys create soundtracks to horror movies that don’t exist. Their music is played everywhere throughout the Halloween season – costume shops, role playing game shops, amusement parks, haunted attractions, Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Mansion Halloween parties, you name it. Their music has even been played on TV – Monday Night Football, Barbara Walters specials, haunted documentaries, etc. It also has been played at King Diamond concerts, as well as The Misfits.
Midnight Syndicate’s musical style is basically dark classical or neo-classical, or “gothic horror”. In the simplest way to describe their music, it’s Halloween soundtrack music. On their albums you’ll hear dark ambient music with added sound effects such as creaky doors, footsteps, grandfather clocks, music boxes, heartbeats, ghostly voices, voice narrations, sinister laughter, howling winds, tolling bells, bats, rats, shaking chandeliers, rain, thunder and lightning, and much more.
This album is a 22-track collection of some of Midnight Syndicate’s darkest songs. If you already own all their CDs, then there’s no reason to buy this CD unless you’d just like to have it in your collection anyway. This CD is good for introducing new fans to some of Midnight Syndicate’s darkest material. The CD is really meant to be played outside while the trick-or-treaters are visiting your home on Halloween night. In order to get all of their great material, I highly recommend buying Midnight Syndicate’s entire catalog of CDs, but this Halloween Music Collection CD is a good place to start your collection if you’re a new fan.
